This is an introductory short course to film photography where you will be loaned a 35mm camera and lens together with a roll of black and white film to follow along. Developing and scaning of the provided black and white film is included.

You would need to be familiar with the basic principles of photography, well suited for digital photographers that want to try film. If in doubt please send me a message with your questions.

We will go trough the following:

  • How the equipment works.
  • Equipment required and camera types.
  • Light metering/exposing, choosing camera settings and film types.
  • Loading film
  • Discussing running costs of film photography
  • Developing and film scanning options available and its costs/convenience.
  • Shooting the roll.
  • Safely removing the roll from the camera
  • Questions time.
  • Short follow up in a few weeks time for questions that you might still have, or could have arisen since.

We will start with the theory, how the equipment works, what is needed, how to expose and meter light, load the film, and of course we shoot the rolls. Types of cameras, developing and digitizing options will be discussed along with the runing costs of film photography.

If you already have a film camera you can bring it and whatever film you like to shoot, we will have 35mm ,m42 mount, fully manual and fully mechanical cameras at your disposal together with black and white ISO 400 film.
